Fate/Zero Trailer

by Chad

Update: For the first episode of Fate/Zero, click here!

The first promotional video for the prequel to Fate/Stay Night, named Fate/Zero, has finally been released! Originally a light novel released in 2006, it finally paved way for an anime adaptation. Type-moon sure caused a ruckus among the fans after its huge success with the original series and the alternate-route movie, Unlimited Blade Works.

Fate/Zero takes place 10 years prior to the original series when the 4th Holy Grail War was held.

Just like my uber-favorite Kara No Kyoukai: The Garden of Sinners, the production is handled by Ufotable along with the wonderful and ecstatic music of Yuki Kajiura and her Kalafina. Having said that, I DEFINITELY WILL NOT MISS THIS!

Below is the first video ever to be released. Expect more!

Puella Magi Madoka Magica Review

by Chad

Hearing news that Yuki Kajiura and her Kalafina is behind the music of yet another new anime, I just had to see it. Their masterpiece from Kara No Kyoukai still give me the goosebumps, after all. Going over some reviews, Puella Magi Madoka Magica, also called Mahou Shoujo Madoka Magika, definitely screams the genre Magical Girl niched for kiddie girls – though most people who have seen it say otherwise. So should we waste our time on this one?

Please do read further. :)

I’m no fan of magical girls, but still I decided to give it a shot. The introduction was an eye-catcher it seems, as it contradicted what I was initially expecting – instead of a girly intro with cuddly pets and blooming flowers, there was this dark setting somewhat similar to Shakugan No Shana in fuzetsu mode, and a dark-haired girl fighting a weird thing in the sky that kept throwing concrete at her. Kalafina’s ‘Magia’ would be playing all the while in the background.

Kara No Kyoukai: The Garden of Sinners Review

by Chad

Kara No Kyoukai: The Garden of Sinners, goes to the top of my list, no doubt! In my opinion, this show certainly makes anime for what it is in its untainted form. I’ll try my best to explicate things the best I can, and without spoilers.

The series falls under Type-Moon’s Nasuverse (Also the same universe of Tsukihime and Fate/Stay Night) so if this is a first time, the concepts, theories and even how reality is interpreted in that universe will be daunting at first. Kara No Kyoukai is composed of 7 animated films, all of which should be watched sequentially even though they aren’t chronological in order.

Synopsis: The first movie introduces Ryougi Shiki, who possess a rather special ability called the Chokushi no Magan, or Mystic Eyes of Death Perception where it allows the user to see the “death” of everything in existence as lines. A cut along any line will bifurcate the object no matter the sharpness of the cutting tool used, and a stab at the point destroys the object’s origin, causing instant death. This is due to her 2-year comma after an accident, where her consciousness was able to understand death after dwelling in it for so long. The ‘eyes’ are portrayed by having a rainbow-like color.
