Higurashi No Naku Koro Ni Kira File.03

Another two months have passed, and now we have the third of the 4 OVA episodes of Higurashi No Naku Koro Ni Kira! This is the second OVA series of the anime to be released, mainly to celebrate its 10th anniversary.

To the readers who haven’t watched Higurashi yet, don’t go diving into this one since you won’t be able to appreciate a thing, as this is made for the fans. Watch the original series first! Out of the tons of anime I’ve watched, Higurashi still ranks at my Top 5 – the best mystery / gore / story twist / life-appreciating / mind-boggling anime yet. If you’re interested, I’ve made a review of the original anime here!

I just got my copy and was only able to skim the episode for a few screens (God, I’m sleepy as hell), so I’ll just make a quick summary based from what I saw: in this ‘Intertwined Destiny Chapter‘, this episode starts with Keiichi and Mion walking home together, and gets spotted by different people at different times, stating that they’re a ‘perfect match‘.

Mion shies away and runs home. Seeing that her twin sister makes no progress with the boy she likes, Shion decides to meddle with their affairs. Later on, Rena Ryuguu also joins the fight. Who will be able to win Keiichi in the end? :3

Higurashi No Naku Koro Ni Kira File.02

The two-month wait since the last Kira episode has ended! 07th Expansion finally released the next one! Straying away from the completely drunk in perverted fan-service of the first to a more kawaii and moe mahou-shoujo atmosephere, this actually made a good comeback as well as a flag-triggering event for the next episode which will be aired 2 months from now.

The episode is titled “Bewitching Battle – Chapter: ~Never~” and starts with Rika having a dream about being an all grown-up mahou shoujo woman trying to rescue an also grown-up Satoko from the clutches of the Four Generals. Then they wake up only to find out that Rika transferred to yet another world along with Satoko – a world similar to the original Higurashi No Naku Koro Ni canon, but somehow different. The Rika of that world seemed to be a magical girl that protects the peace of Hinamizawa, which our ‘current‘ Rika oh so despised.

One Higurashi No Naku Koro Ni Kira trailer down! This is for the 1st OVA to be released on July 21, 2011. Enjoy!

It seems the first OVA would be more like that of Higurashi Rei’s first episode, where everyone will just be in it for the fun – and none would be killed by another unsuspecting character who’s turned a screw loose. But who knows? I can’t say for sure. We’re talking about Higurashi, after all. Anyway, less than 2 more months to go!

LOL at 1:00 – I’m really thrilled to see Keiichi and Satoshi finally meeting face to face for the first time, but why the hell in a yaoi atmosephere!? Hah, I bet this is just one of those penalty games concocted by Mion.
