Calda Pizza – From Cebu to Manila

by Chad

On the final night of our Cebu vacation last summer 2010, me and my friends roamed around Mango Avenue hoping to find that perfect hangout place – we eventually stumbled upon Calda and their monster-sized pizza of 36 inches. And who would have thought that almost a year later, 4 branches would already have invaded Manila!

Besides having their pizza on a humongous scale, they’re also quite tasty and affordable – with 23 flavorful variations ranging from 150 PHP (basic 10″ Margherita) to 1,130 PHP (four-flavored 36″ Quattro Stagione). They currently have 4 branches stationed at N. Domingo and Blueridge Quezon City, Pioneer Street Mandaluyong City and P. Noval Manila.

The one we usually go to is at Blueridge Katipunan, just almost beside the smaller Banapple. The place is cozy and quiet, perfect for people who just want to hang out, talk, eat pizza and have a couple of drinks without the loud tugs-tugs music generally present at the local bars. Yes, they sell beer and only for 130 PHP per bucket!

Sambokojin: Yakiniku Eat-All-You-Can!

by Chad

Look out Saisaki/Dad’s/Kamayan, ’cause Sambokojin has come to town!

Another brand of Somethin’ Fishy and conveniently located beside it in Eastwood City, Libis, it was definitely the perfect place to celebrate mom and dad’s anniversary.

The place is called Sambokojin: Yakiniku Smokeless Grill bearing the slogan “Grill all you can, eat all you can!“. For those who haven’t been in this type of restaurant before, it’s where food are mostly raw and are cooked by you, the customer, in your table as each one has a small grill. Their main courses generally include US Beef, assorted seafood, Japanese as well as Korean specialties and a variety of sauces to marinate them with.

Welcome, Friends! To My New Refuge!

by Chad

Before anything, belated Merry Christmas and advanced Happy New Year!

Welcome to Akashic Records! a new blog I’ve been inspired to create and maintain just about five minutes ago. After almost three long years of personal non-blogging (I blog about my profession at Perfect Renders), I finally gave in and accepted the fact that my most awesome experiences aren’t complete without them being written anywhere.

Shedding more light on the title, ‘Akasha’ has various interpretations on a number of cultures and religions, having my two main favorites as (1) the basis and essence of all things in the material world – in Hinduism, and (2) the ethereal compendium of all knowledge and history – in Thesophy. The anime “Kara no Kyoukai“, carrying reason number 2, introduced me to this term. It has stuck to me ever since.

Formal Introduction. You can call me Chad. I’m a fresh graduate of Entrepreneurship at the University of Santo Tomas and I currently run Perfect Renders Multimedia Solutions, a local enterprise in the Philippines offering mainly video production services, graphic design and web development.
