Final Fantasy 8 Unused Content

Thanks to YouTube and the generous people who took the effort in sharing such fun yet intriguing Easter eggs, we’re able to realize that despite being hardcore fans, most of us aren’t all-knowing yet when it comes to one of the most awesome FF games ever, Final Fantasy VIII. Below are unused stuff that never made it to the final cut!

The first video below is widely known as the “unused intro“. It’s pretty much similar to the final version, though various clips from the game have been added, making it more chaotic and confusing. Not to mention it containing spoilers. It’s a good thing they saw ahead what’s wrong in this one and went on to make a better one.

Notable points:

Next up, is a video from the “Final Fantasy VIII Preview Disc” that came with FF7. Lot’s of unused stuff here. But the most prominent ones are at 1:00 where Quistis should be the one firing the boat’s machine gun at X-ATM092. After that you’ll also see Leviathan and Rinoa in battle. They shouldn’t be there yet until later on in the game. Cheat code, perhaps? Check out the FMV at 1:55, where Rinoa is running towards the boat and gave Squall a worried look. If everyone remembers it right, it should be Selphie in her position. Hmm, interesting. Rinoa was ‘originally’ supposed to join SeeD in their siege at Dollet. I wonder how the script would have turned out with our love triangle struggling in a war zone. XD

ToyCon June 2011 Photos

It was really fun seeing people cos-up as awesome anime and game characters with such creativity and enthusiasm – and because of just that, I set sail to ToyCon June 2011 to practice my noob-ish photography skills and relentlessly try to get around setting those fun values of the exposure triangle.

Anime conventions in SM Megamall are usually crowded but of the few times I’ve attended, I guess ToyCon really takes the cake. Three Megatrade Halls were rented out for the two-day event with a toy sale / exhibit, a band stage and cosplay ramp as the three main sections. Entrance is 100 PHP but for those wanting to only take pictures of or with the cosplayers, just going to the top floor of the mall would suffice.

Dissidia 012: Duodecim Trailer

Upon the original Dissidia’s success, a sequel has already been spawned and is bound for release in the US this March 22, 2011 – Dissidia 012! Make way for the new Final Fantasy characters!

The plot follows the twelfth cycle of battle between the warriors of the gods Cosmos and Chaos – one cycle before the original Dissidia. Focusing more on the new characters, the spotlight would dwell more on what happened to them and why they weren’t able to appear in the next cycle.

“All twenty-two playable characters in the original Dissidia will return. In addition to the original roster, eight new characters have been announced: Kain from IV, Lightning from XIII, Tifa from VII, Vaan from XII, Laguna from VIII, Yuna from X, Prishe from XI, and Gilgamesh from V. Aerith from VII is to be included as an Assist character for people who buy the demo, Dissidia Duodecim Prologus. It has been reported that there will be more than a handful of new characters^{…”  -}Wikia

Final Fantasy XIII-2 Trailer

I never expected the possibility of having a sequel to Final Fantasy XIII as Final Fantasy Versus XIII has been keeping our attention all this time!

So yes, Square announced that Lightning will still be our leading lady. Square Enix Europe also said that the game “exceeds Final Fantasy XIII in every aspect”, including the battle system. I wonder how the game will be? After seeing the trailer for FFVXIII, I guess that much is expected.

Oh yeah, I haven’t finished FFXIII yet. I wasn’t able to play again after I made it to Pulse – but it won’t be for long!

Final Fantasy Versus XIII Gameplay Trailer (2011)

This just in: Square Enix released another trailer for Final Fantasy Versus XIII featuring its in-game mechanics. As if the currently featured movie cut scenes weren’t enough to blow us all away – the gameplay was just outright sick! They weren’t kidding when they said they’d make the battle system totally reminiscent of Advent Children. As expected, they definitely didn’t go all out on FFXIII.
